加拿大不同，加拿大每个银行对应有一个号码，叫做银行号码(bank number)或者金融机构号码(institution number)，三位数，比如道明银行是004。每个支行还有一个号码，叫做分行号码(Branch number)或者交易号码(Transit Number)，标准的是5位数。
