在英语中，我们通常在某些情况下使用冠词 "the" 来修饰 "leader" 这个词：当我们特指某个人担任的领导职位时，通常会用 "the"，例如: "The leader of the opposition party is giving a speech tonight."当我们指代某个团体、组织或国家的领导人时，也会用到 "the"。

例如: "The leader of the United States met with the Prime Minister of Canada yesterday."但是，在其他情况下，我们并不需要使用 "the" 来修饰 "leader" 这个词。例如，如果你只是想描述某个人在某种情况下扮演了领导角色，你可以说： "John was the leader of the hiking group on that day." 在这种情况下，由于 "leader" 这个词作为一个普通名词使用，不需要加上 "the"。
