表示泛指时不加定冠词the,表示特指时要加上去复数名词如：students,在特指某些学生的时候，如：The students are majoring in Chinese。

单数名词可以加a an，特指时也加the。不可数名词不可以加a an，只可能加the。表示泛指时前面不加任何冠词，即使用零冠词。如：The student in blue is my daughter.1）国名,人名前通常不用定冠词：England,Mary；2）泛指的复数名词,表示一类人或事物时,可不用定冠词；如：They are teachers.他们是教师.3）抽象名词表示一般概念时,通常不加冠词；如：Failure is the mother of success.
